Confessions of a human mom

I saw this on another blog and it made me think that I have some confessions of my own.

1. I yell at Jason more than I probably should, but I'm working on it.
2. I LOVE college football, yet greatly dislike professional and I love MLB but don't
care much for college. Go figure.
3. I used to label myself "Republican" since they most fit my thoughts on matters
but they have let me down more than once in recent times and I now label
myself "conservative" instead.
4. No, I am not a fan of President Obama and no I don't think he's done a good
job thus far. I have no problem saying this since I vote and did not vote for
him.
5. I love, love, love rain.
6. Sadly, I have, in the past, snuck candy out of my kids Easter baskets or
Christmas stockings. Yeah, so what....get over it...it was chocolate. CHOCOLATE!
7. I don't always feel like cooking. Shock! Cheetos and Koolaid are good enough
for dinner.
8. I actually kind of like Halloween.
9. I could listen to Christmas music year round.
10. I prefer a quiet night at home with my husband over a lavish night out.
11. I'm a girl, but pink is not my favorite color.
12. I love that I'm a southern girl and I'm proud of it.
13. I'm sorry, but I just don't understand people that don't like college football.
14. I don't read near as much as I should, but I'm working on it.
15. I am not ashamed nor do I feel it isn't important to be a stay at home and
housewife.
16. I have actually learned stuff by homeschooling Jason.
17. I love my kids, but I don't always like them. And that's okay.
18. I think English should be our national language.
19. While I wish there could be world peace, NO, I don't think we can just all
"get a long"
20. Finally, I confess that I babble. Yes. I babble. There, I said it!

Now, what are "your" confessions?

Proud moments, sea lions, extreme heat, and pain

It doesn't take a genious to figure out I've missed a week, or two with trying to blog. This wasn't because I didn't think about doing it, I just didn't do it. :) The weekend before we left for TX was crazy. Crazy busy that is.

Monday, July 11th finally came and we packed up the car and headed out. We went all the way over to McDonald's, for breakfast of course. :) Once we were finished there we headed out east on highway 24 toward Limon, CO. We made it ALL the way to Peyton, CO which is a whopping 9 miles from our house when we realized we left the passes to get us onto Lackland AFB, at HOME. We make a swift turn into the post office and headed back west to our house. Once the passes were retrieved we once again headed east! We decided to stop for lunch in Burlington, CO. Burger King with huge monster crickets. Anyhoo, we headed out again crossing into KS. For those of you that don't know because you've never been, KS is HOT and it takes forEVER to get across! Luckily we have a little stop we make in Colby, KS where there is a Starbucks and large playground for kids. After a small break there we headed onto Salina, our destination for that night. Amazed again this year at the huge windmills in KS.

Our hotel was really nice as was the pool but the winner of the evening was dinner. Oh....my.....gosh it was SO good. Now I forget the name of it but it was a steak place right by our hotel. YUM.

Tuesday was HOT and allergies invaded both myself and Jason. We somehow sneezed our way down to OKC where we stopped for night two. Hotel wasn't as good but the pool was nice. Dinner wasn't. Oh well.

Wednesday we headed even further south because our final destination of course was San Antonio. It is hot in San Antonio. It was at least 103 each day we were there with one point reaching 107! Yikes! Our hotel there was great and the staff some of the nicest we've encountered in all our travels. There was a TX Roadhouse right beside it which was awesome! We even met Chris there for dinner because it turned out his hotel you could see from our hotel. Cool huh?

Thursday we had to wake up at 4:30. 4:30! We needed to be parked in the lot across from the visitor's reception center between 5-5:30. Eek. We met some really nice people all excited to see their son, daugher, niece, grandkid, wife or you name it. Some from as close as Dallas and one family from Maine. After the briefing which was nice since it was inside and you sat down and they had a/c, we all went over to line the street to watch and try and catch of glimpse of our girl during the Airman's Run. Kevin and Chris saw her but I sadly did not. :(

We went over and sat in the mini BX in the air for a while before making our way to the seating area for the honor grad ceremony and retreat. Man it was hot. We got special seating though out of the sun since we had an honor grad. :) It was there I got to see her for the first time. Of course as a mom, I wanted to run out to her but a nice lady had already informed the crowd at the run, "please momma's do NOT run after yo babies", so I sat still. :)

Retreat was over and we got to see and touch her and talk to her, finally after 8 1/2 weeks!! Yay!! We had such a good time visiting with her the rest of the day. She was still our Michelle. :)

Friday we had to get up early again and get to base. We hung out in the same place with a/c before heading out(walking)to the parade grounds. Graduation was great and not as hot as the retreat. After we all walked to her dorm and saw where she'd slept and spent most of her time. I, unfortunately, hurt my foot jumping off a 3ft hill onto concrete and probably made it worse by the mile or two walk to the dorm. :(. Most likely a stress fracture but you know, it was worth it. To see her graduate and view a glimpse of her life in the dorm. Priceless. We ate lunch together and then parted so Chris and Michelle could be alone for a bit. We met up again for dinner with them.

Saturday was awesome albeit HOT. We spent the day at Sea World. I had a motorized scooter. LOVED it. The shows were fantastic and Jason loved the roller coasters. We met the kids again for dinner and then had to say goodbye to our girl. :( We didn't like that part. We miss her like crazy already. But, we'll see her Christmas. :)

Our trek back had us staying a night in Denton, TX which was nice and a night in Wichita, KS which was awesome!! We got home Tuesday afternoon late. Michelle is now at her tech school which is at Keesler AFB, MS. Our old stomping grounds. :) We too, were there for tech school.

So, I have no weekly recipe or anything else for that matter. We're getting back into our "home" routine now. Maybe next week I'll get something on here? Maybe.
